Large Charities Meeting - June 2017

Tuesday, 20 Jun 2017, 15:00 - 18:30

Sharing risk & Financial returns on Procurement

There are many challenges charities face recovering the full costs for services and products, including allocating direct and indirect costs.  Without all costs being identified and allocated, services cannot operate at their full potential and could lead to the organisation being unsustainable.  The benefits of full cost recovery let organisations know the funding that is required, the impact of a project and allows for better-informed decisions to be made.

Introduction by the CFG LCG Chair - Rohan Hewavisenti

Full cost recovery best practice

This session will cover the best practice of full cost recovery, explaining which costs are direct and indirect, how to price your project components correctly, scenario planning, monitoring and how to negotiate with the funder.  It will also cover the risks involved, reviewing your risk register and deciding who bears what risks.

Alan Sharpe, CFG Affiliate (former RSPB Finance Director)

Procurement - is it all about cost?

Procurement can be confused with ‘getting the cheapest deal’ but in reality cheapest is not necessarily best. Great procurement will minimise risk to your organisation, reduce volatility in the supply chain and protect the charity from the unexpected.
