This course aims to build on the knowledge gained in the Foundation Charity Finance course and would also be suitable for charity finance professionals with experience of working in the sector.
The course is intended to be flexible so that we can focus on the specific aims of the attendees but will include a discussion of impact reporting, advanced income recognition issues including the impact of the new SORPs, an in depth session on VAT and tax, pension scheme accounting, and investment issues including monitoring of performance and total returns.
By the end of this training course, delegates should have a deeper understanding of some of the more intricate accounting issues that charities face.
The format is an interactive workshop style and is intended to be flexible to the needs of the delegates.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is aimed at experienced finance professionals and assumes that attendees will be familiar with general accounting and reporting concepts and practice, with a sound knowledge of basic charity accounting and reporting.
It is designed to build on the knowledge gained in the Foundation Charity Finance course.
Course materials will be supplied on the day and will comprise hand outs of the presentation slides and material used in the examples discussed.

Adrian is an expert on charity accounting and reporting issues, and associated matters. He is a regular contributor to our charity newsletters and other publications, sits on the Charity Finance Group Technical Accounting Forum, speaks at CFG events and provides training for clients and staff. He is also a trustee of a charity.
Fiona advises a variety of clients in the charity sector, across a range of sizes and activities. She is an active member of Smith & Williamson's charity sector focus group with responsibilities including the development and delivery of internal and external training and seminars, and the coordination of our charities newsletter. She is also a governor of a charitable independent school.
Tony has advised on VAT issues for over 25 years and leads the Midlands VAT practice at Smith & Williamson. With a wide range of experience, he advises a number of charities on VAT matters. Tony is a member of the firm's charity sector focus group and writes regularly on VAT for charities.
This course is run by:
9.15 to 4.30pm with tea/coffee breaks in the morning and afternoon; sandwich lunch will be provided.

Written notice of cancellations up to 21 days before an event will incur a 25% administration fee. After this time period, a 100% cancellation charge will apply. Substitutions (i.e. name changes) for the course booked can be made free of charge.

However we regret that we cannot refund any travel or accommodation costs incurred by delegates. CFG accepts no liability if an event is cancelled or postponed for reasons beyond our reasonable control resulting from an act of God, governmental regulation, fire, war, terrorist activity or civil commotion.
