This training is to give a sound basic foundation to equip those who work with the finances of small charities or small groups to be able to have an understanding about good reporting practises and about what reserves are and how to develop a reserves policy.
Attendees will leave with an understanding of:
- What the statutory requirements are for reporting of financial information, including reporting under the new SORP.
- Using reports to build a narrative which demonstrates impact.
- The different types of financial inspections and what you will need to do to prepare for them.
- How to frame your reports when presenting to donors or funders.
Who should attend?
Those who work with the finances and money handling in a small charity or a small group. This can be a volunteer, treasurer, finance person, or other manager/CEO.

There is a travel bursary scheme available for those who live in rural areas and need some additional financial support to travel to the trainings; this scheme is for those who live a fair distance from the nearest training session and whose organisation has less than £50,000 annual income. This presentation will give an overview of the areas you need to consider, and the narrative reports you should produce to meet statutory reporting requirements.
Preparing for year end - Part one
For this topic attendees will split into two groups, to focus on the accounting reporting requirements specific to your charity.
One group will focus on receipts and payments accounts, the other will look at accruals accounts and compliance with the new SORP.

All CFG’s training sessions for small charities are supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to keep costs low. There is a fee of just £20 for each half day training. You can book by pressing on the book now button at the bottom of this page.
Terms and Conditions:
Written notice of cancellations up to 21 days before an event will incur a 25% administration fee. After this time period, a 100% cancellation charge will apply. Substitutions (i.e. name changes) for the course booked can be made free of charge.
CFG reserves the right to cancel any event two weeks prior to the event date. You will be entitled to a full refund or given the opportunity to transfer to an alternative date. However we regret that we cannot refund any travel or accommodation costs incurred by delegates. CFG accepts no liability if an event is cancelled or postponed for reasons beyond our reasonable control resulting from an act of God, governmental regulation, fire, war, terrorist activity or civil commotion.
It may be necessary for reasons beyond our control to change the date, time or the venue at any time prior to the event date. If this occurs you will be informed of changes and given the opportunity to cancel or transfer to an alternative date.
CFG reserves the right to amend the content of the programme or the speakers where necessary without consulting booked delegates.
